Day 1: Siem Reap – Beng Mealea– Sambor Prei Kuk (L/D)
You will be picked up from your hotel by your guide and driver at 0700. The first destination today is Beng Mealea, another seldom-visited ruin. Beng Mealea is a spectacular jungle temple, located about 40 km north of Siem Reap. Beng Mealea was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII and surpasses even the famous Ta Prohm for atmosphere. Continue to Kampong Kdei.
Further on you will stop again briefly at Spean Praptos, another fantastic stone bridge from the Angkor period. The bridge is used only for pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles. The fact it is used at all is a testament to the Khmer builder’s skill.
Early this afternoon you will arrive at Sambor Preikuk to get a warm welcome from your host and he/she can help you for check-in at homestay. Afternoon you can cycle to visit the local markets, pagoda, handicrafts village, and noodle village; and you will see how local families make noodles.
Dinner and overnight at homestay
Visitors are invited to explore Siem Reap’s many temples and to take the city home in the form of handcrafted jewelry and décor or unforgettable moments. Gateway for the temples of Angkor, Siem Reap is always destined for great things.
Day 2: Sambor Prei Kuk – Phnom Penh (B/L)
After your simple breakfast, you will head out to the ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk by bike. You will visit the three main temple complexes: Prasat Sambor, Prasat Tor, and Prasat Yeah Puon on foot. Get on your bike and cycle through the forest to some of the outlying ruins before your lunch.
After lunch, you will be transferred to Phnom Penh. Driving time takes about 3hours; check in your accommodation and free relax as your leisure time.
