Cambodia Heritage Tour

Phnom Penh - Battambang - Siem Reap - Kep

10 Days / 9 Nights

Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh (-/L/D)

Touch down in Cambodia’s bustling capital, Phnom Penh! After a warm welcome from your tour guide, you'll head straight to your hotel for check-in and a bit of rest. Take the morning to recharge, relax, and get your first glimpse of local life as the city hums around you.

In the afternoon, hop aboard a tuk-tuk — the most iconic way to get around Phnom Penh — and begin your sightseeing adventure. First stop: Wat Ounalom, the spiritual heart of Cambodian Buddhism. Known for its serene atmosphere and striking architecture, this sacred site is a magnet for pilgrims and curious travelers alike.

Next, dive into Cambodia’s rich history at the National Museum, home to centuries of Khmer art and culture. Then, wrap up the afternoon with a visit to the Royal Palace, an elegant and grand complex that still serves as the King’s official residence.

After a day of cultural immersion, return to your hotel for a good night’s rest.

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 2: Phnom Penh City Tour (B/L/D)

Your second day in the capital takes a powerful turn as you dive into Cambodia’s recent history. Start the morning with visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields, where you’ll confront the harrowing legacy of the Khmer Rouge regime. It’s a sobering but essential experience—one that paints a raw, unforgettable picture of the country’s resilience in the face of deep tragedy.

In the late afternoon, shift gears and decompress with a walk along Sisowath Quay, the riverside stretch known for its vibrant energy and colonial charm. Lined with cafes, bars, and restaurants, this area blends local flavor with an international vibe. Whether you're sipping a fresh coconut, grabbing a sunset beer, or people-watching as tuk-tuks cruise by, the quay offers a scenic and spirited end to your day.

During major festivals like the Cambodian New Year, Sisowath Quay also becomes a prime spot for catching the famous boat races, so if your trip lines up, you’re in for a show.

Day 03: Phnom Penh to Battambang (B/L/D)

Today, leave behind the capital and head northwest to Battambang, Cambodia’s second-largest city and a hidden gem known for its serene riverside charm and striking French colonial architecture. The journey is roughly 293 km—but trust us, it’s anything but boring.

On the way, you’ll stop at two culturally rich destinations that add depth to your Cambodian adventure. First up is Oudong, the former royal capital of Cambodia. Nestled about 40 km from Phnom Penh, Oudong’s hilltop stupas offer a glimpse into the country’s regal past and panoramic views that are worth the climb.
Next, swing by Kompong Chhnang, a town famed for its centuries-old pottery tradition.

Visit local workshops and see firsthand how skilled artisans craft beautiful, practical ceramics using traditional techniques passed down through generations. It’s a chance to get your hands a little dirty—or at least appreciate the craftsmanship up close.

From there, continue to Battambang, where the peaceful riverside setting of Tonle Sap Lake awaits. Settle into the laid-back rhythm of the city and enjoy your evening surrounded by timeless charm and warm hospitality.

Day 04: Battambang – Phnom Sampeau (B/L/D)

Your day in Battambang begins with a scenic journey through the countryside—expect picture-perfect views of lush rice paddies, small traditional villages, and peaceful farmland that will give you a deep sense of tranquility and insight into rural Khmer life.

Start your morning at Wat Ek Phnom, an 11th-century Angkorian temple built under King Suryavarman I. Though partially in ruins, its towering structure and intricate stone carvings still echo the grandeur of Cambodia's ancient past. The road leading to the temple is just as rewarding, lined with charming villages and local life unfolding all around you.

After lunch, make your way to Phnom Banan, another mountaintop temple dating back to the Angkor period. With five distinctive towers perched on a quiet hilltop, it offers panoramic views and a peaceful retreat from the busy world below, perfect for a moment of reflection (and some great photo ops).

In the late afternoon, ascend Phnom Sampeau, a striking limestone mountain steeped in both beauty and history. Explore its sacred temple and haunting caves—grim reminders of the Khmer Rouge era, where countless lives were lost. Despite its dark past, the site is now a place of peace, where monks share stories like the legend of Neang Rumsay Sok, adding a human, spiritual layer to your visit.

End the day watching the sun dip below the horizon from the mountain’s summit—an unforgettable moment. Then head back to your hotel for a well-earned rest.

Day 05: Battambang – Siem Reap – Angkor Temples (B, L, -)

After breakfast, set off from Battambang to Siem Reap, the gateway to one of the most iconic heritage sites in the world. Upon arrival, dive straight into the mystical world of the Angkor Archaeological Park, beginning with Angkor Thom—the last great capital of the Khmer Empire.

While Angkor Wat might steal the spotlight, Angkor Thom holds its own as a breathtaking blend of history and grandeur. Enter through its massive stone gates, where ancient faces carved into towers greet you with serene, all-seeing gazes. Wander through the Bayon Temple with its 54 towers, each adorned with enigmatic stone smiles.

Continue your journey through time with a visit to the Terrace of the Elephants, once used by kings to view grand processions and ceremonies. Just nearby, the Terrace of the Leper King reveals intricate carvings and hidden passageways rich with symbolic meaning. A stop at the remains of the Royal Palace rounds out your exploration of this ancient city.

After a day steeped in history and culture, return to your hotel in Siem Reap for a restful evening.

Day 06: Ta Prohm – Angkor Wat – Banteay Srei (B/-/-)

Start your day with a visit to Ta Prohm, one of the most atmospheric temples in the Angkor complex. Located to the east of the main archaeological park, Ta Prohm is famously entwined with nature—massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow right out of the stone ruins, their roots spilling like melted wax across ancient walls. The temple’s eerie beauty is otherworldly, making it easy to see why it was chosen as a filming location for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

After soaking in the jungle mystique of Ta Prohm, head to the crown jewel of Cambodia: Angkor Wat. As the largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat is both an architectural marvel and a spiritual symbol of Cambodia. Take time to walk through its long galleries, intricate bas-reliefs, and symmetrical towers that reflect beautifully in the surrounding moat.

In the afternoon, journey north to the exquisite Banteay Srei, often called the "Citadel of Women." This small temple complex is renowned for its delicate pink sandstone carvings and fine details that have stood the test of time. It’s a favorite among art and history lovers.

As the day winds down, make your way to Pre Rup Temple, a pyramid-shaped structure made of laterite and brick. Climb to the top for a breathtaking view and watch the sun dip below the Cambodian horizon—an unforgettable ending to a magical day.

Day 07: Tonle Sap Lake (B/-/-)

No trip to Cambodia is complete without visiting Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve since 1997. “Tonle Sap” translates to “Great Freshwater River,” and this ecological wonder is not just a lake—it’s a way of life.

Today, explore the heart of Cambodia’s floating culture. Hop aboard a local boat and glide through the floating villages, where homes, schools, and even shops float effortlessly on the water’s surface. It’s a fascinating look at how communities have adapted to the lake’s rhythmic changes in water level, which expand and shrink dramatically with the seasons.

As the day winds down, treat yourself to a sunset cruise across the tranquil waters. The golden light reflecting off the lake and the silhouettes of fishing boats make for a dreamy, peaceful finale to your Cambodia adventure.

Day 08: Siem Reap – Phnom Penh – Kep City (B/-/-)

Bid farewell to Siem Reap as you journey back to Phnom Penh, the bustling capital of Cambodia. After a brief stop, continue your travels to Kep, a tranquil coastal town known for its laid-back charm and scenic beauty. Arrive at your resort in Kep, where you can unwind and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

Day 09: Kep City Excursion (B/L/-)

Spend your day exploring the quiet coastal beauty of Kep, a serene escape from Cambodia’s more bustling cities. Unlike Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville, Kep radiates peace and simplicity with its well-preserved French colonial architecture.

Relax on Kep Beach, where the soft white sand and calm, crystal-clear waters create a perfect setting for unwinding. The beach is surrounded by lush hills, adding to the scenic beauty of this peaceful retreat. Kep is also famous for its delicious seafood, particularly its crabs, which are considered the town’s culinary symbol. A visit to Kep Crocodile Market is an absolute must for fresh seafood lovers.

For a special experience, take a short boat ride to Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), just 30 minutes from the city. With its pristine beaches, swaying coconut palms, and crystal-clear waters, it's an idyllic spot for relaxation and snorkeling among vibrant coral and tropical fish.

If you're up for more adventure, visit Kep National Park, the Kep Oceanarium, or take photos with the iconic White Lady Statue. You can also explore the Banteay Srei Butterfly Farm, where you'll see hundreds of species of butterflies in their natural habitat.

Day 10: Phnom Penh Departure (B/-/-)

Enjoy your final morning in Kep before heading back to Phnom Penh for your departure. As you leave Cambodia, we hope your journey has created unforgettable memories, and we look forward to welcoming you again!
