Tonle Bati, Takeo, and Canal Cruise Tour
Destination: Cambodia -> Phnom Penh
Highlights:
Rural Cambodia countryside, boat trip on Tonle Bati, Ancient temples
Itinerary:
Located around 35 kilometers to the south of Phnom Penh, the lovely setting of Tonle Bati is a popular lakeside escape for locals and tourists alike. Our journey there this morning takes us via the Angkorian temples of Ta Prohm and Yeay Peau, both built during the same period as Angkor Thom and the Bayon in Siem Reap.
Dating back to the late 12th century, Ta Prohm is by far the more extensive and impressive of the two sites, displaying as it does several well-preserved carvings. After viewing the sandstone tower at Yeay Peau, we’ll continue to Takeo, where we’ll enjoy a typical Cambodian lunch overlooking the river.
The afternoon then sees us traveling by long-tail boat to visit the beautiful 8th-century temple at Phnom Da, to enjoy the sweeping views from its hilltop location. Returning to Takeo by the river, we then drive back to Phnom Penh, stopping off to visit some local houses if time allows, before arriving back at the Hotel late this afternoon.
Condition: Minimum 2 pax traveling together
