Koh Thonsáy is a Cambodian island located off the country's southern coast in the Gulf of Thailand. "Koh Thonsáy" translates to Rabbit Island, which is administered by Kep Province.
After breakfast, we drive a short tuk-tuk ride, followed by a 25-30 minute journey by private fisherman's boat, and guests are transported to the rustic shores and sandy beaches of Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), which is just 4.5km off the south coast of Cambodia.
A truly relaxing and seemingly remote destination, the island is blissfully undeveloped and is the perfect place to enjoy snorkeling in the shallow waters, read a book in the shade, or simply relax and soak up the sun while your guide whips up a personal BBQ feast of fresh seafood served on the beach.
The main beach on the west side of the island is a crescent-shaped 250-meter-long white sand beach. This is the beach where you will be dropped off by boat, and the only beach with facilities. The palm and other trees dot the beach, so there is plenty of shade. The island is hilly and covered with coconut palms and dense jungle.
The beach on the west side of the island is excellent for swimming – the water is clear and warm, and the beach gently slopes into the water. Some guesthouses now offer snorkels and masks for hire in case you’d like to explore underwater. Some colorful fish can be seen, but there is a lack of coral. The best spot to snorkel is around the rocky side of the beach.
In the afternoon, trek through the forest and enjoy the nature of the island.
It is possible to walk the perimeter of the island, a trip that is said to take about 3 hours. You will pass some beaches and mangroves on the way. There are insects around, so do cover yourself or spray yourself with anti-bug spray.
Later, we return to Kep and transfer to your hotel or continue to Phnom Penh. Please check with your local guide for further arrangements.
